Beating the recession

Families across Bedford have been feeling the pinch and we need action to help now.

As our Mayor, Dave will cut waste and keep council tax down. Delivering good quality value for money services will always be Dave's top priority.

Dave will launch a "buy local" campaign to boost local shops and businesses. There is a lot we can do locally to help our local economy.

Improving our roads

Bedford's roads have been ignored for too long. As Mayor, Dave will act to tackle potholes and poor surfaces in local roads and pavements.

Dave is backing plans to cut the terrible congestion in our area. He is "Backing the Bypass" and supports East-West rail.

Protecting our environment

Dave Hodgson will be a "green" Mayor for Bedford. He will fight the Conservative incinerator plans for

Bedford. We should be recycling more not burning rubbish.

Dave will be a champion for our parks and open spaces. He will preserve and enhance Bedford's wonderful parks and our beautiful riverside.

Better local services

Bedford people deserve the best quality local services. Dave will work to keep our streets safe for every resident and work to tackle anti-social behaviour.

Dave will work to improve services for the most vulnerable, such as adult social services.

Dave will work to improve access to local leisure services for all parts of the community.

Investing in our future

Education is the key to the future success of Bedford. As an experienced school governor, Dave will make delivering a better education to local children a top priority for his Mayoralty - whatever system is chosen.

Dave will also work to offer more training, apprenticeships and lifelong learning to all parts of the community.
